Pidgin won't run my new ICQ-account

Dear Pidgin-Team, 

I made up a new ICQ-account two weeks ago. 
Using Pidgin since months, I deleted the old ICQ-account from my pidgin
and added the new one. 
My problem now: when I want to activate my ICQ-account, pidgin's telling
me, that the username'S invalid. If I change the username, it's telling
me, the password'S invalid.

I tried to activate the old account - there haven't been any problems.
So, what's the problem?
I uninstalled pidgin and made a new installation. Didn't fix.
What else can I do?
